Netflix Picks Up Judd Apatow Comedy Series

Netflix has just greenlit a comedy pilot by Judd Apatow for two seasons that will star Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust.

The streaming network ordered the 22-episode series, titled Love, which stars Community actress Gillian Jacobs and Super Fun Night’s Paul Rust. Judd Apatow co-created Love and co-wrote it with Rust and Girls writer Lesley Arfin.

Love follows the relationship between Mickey and Gus, played by Jacobs and Rust, and will examine the journey of being in love, including humiliation, craziness, and laughable moments of insanity that comes with the commitment of love. This is Netflix’s biggest original programming order since it’s two season order of House of Cards.

“Judd Apatow has a unique comedic voice that manages to be delightful, insightful, and shockingly frank — often at the same time. Together with Paul and Lesley, he’s bringing a whole new level of agony and ecstasy to this modern day comedy of manners,” Ted Sarandos, the head of Netflix, said in a statement.

Love is expected to begin airing on Netflix in 2016.
