Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burka, are set to guest-star on FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show
According to TVLine, who first confirmed the news, Harris will appear in the 11th and 12th episodes of Ryan Murphy’s Freak Show as a “chameleon salesman,” while Burka will show up in the season finale (the 13th Episode) in a “sexy storyline” involving Jessica Lange’s Elsa Mars.
Harris, who will be hosting the Oscars this year and a variety show at NBC, mentioned over the summer that he had a strong desire to guest-star on the hit-drama. “I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn’t even available to be in it. To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can’t wait!”
Murphy told Entertainment Weekly earlier this month that the two have been in talks about working together on Freak Show. “[Harris] had very specific ideas of what he wanted to do, and I had very specific ideas, so we’re melding them. He’s awesome, one of our great entertainers, and I would love to see him and Jessica Lange go at it in some intriguing way. Because of his schedule, something we’re thinking about, maybe one episode and then another one later on.”
In addition to the couple joining the series’ freaky fourth season, EW exclusively confirmed that Lily Rabe is set to reprise her role of Sister Mary Eunice from season two Asylum for a storyline involving Naomi Grossman’s fellow Asylum character Pepper. Rabe’s character will reportedly appear in the 10th episode.
Other guest stars this season include Patti LaBelle, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley and Celia Weston. American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays, 10/9 c on FX.
