NBC Reportedly Upset at Al Roker After Ryan Lochte Rant

Al Roker Lochte

Things are getting awkward with the Today Show cast.

The Huffington Post has reported the NBC officials and on-air talent are upset at meteorologist Al Roker after his comment on the Ryan Lochte scandal.

On August 19 during a segment with anchor Natalie Morales and Billy Bush, Roker told his collegues “He lied to you, he lied to Matt Lauer, he lied to his mom.” While he is not completly wrong, executive and staff tried to explain his behavior to the Today Show host.

“There were several producers and talent who were left trying to explain Al’s over-the-top behavior.” Which is shown during Bush’s response on the subject saying “He certainly lied about some details.” Bush and Roker would then go back and forth on the matter until the segment was done.

A source with The Huffington Post said “It was a great thing to watch online, but a lot of NBC staff thought that he took it way too far for something that, while it was certainly a legitimate issue and certainly bad behavior by Lochte, outrage to that level just wasn’t justified.”

NBC exec has also spoke up and try to debunk the allegations saying “This is not true. No one feels this way. In fact, everyone here is happy — specifically with the ‘Today’ show’s great ratings.”

Yet The Washington Post has also reported that there was some awkwardness between Roker and Bush when asked about the disagreement.
