Marvel Studios Developing a Documentary Series About Women Who Bring the MCU to Life

Marvel Studios is putting together an original documentary series to be housed at Disney+. So far, we know that it will showcase the women who bring the MCU to life, both on and off-screen.

A casting call at Pitman Casting stated, “… we’ll take fans on a nostalgic and powerful journey to celebrate what these characters represent while revealing how they’ve forever changed the world.”

Any super-fan of Okoye, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, or any other female hero in the MCU is encouraged to apply. Through Marvel films and the WandaVision series, many new fans of all ages were gained. Women are now able to see themselves represented on screen as well as behind the camera, as the amount of female directors is growing over time.

Kevin Feige has often shared his vision for the direction of Marvel when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Now that female superheroes now exist on screen, he is moving on to create films where the characters come from different backgrounds. Shang-Chi is up next and will explore the world of the Chinese fighter.

Speaking of superwomen, we sat with Scarlett Johansson back in 2015 on her press run for Avengers: Age of Ultron and when our own Dave Morales asked her about the Black Widow movie rumors, she said “There is no plan to make a Black Widow movie.” My, how things have changed as Johansson does indeed get her solo movie releasing in theaters July 9th.
