Marvel Developing Comedy Series Centered Around Heroine Squirrel Girl

Marvel and ABC Studios are developing a comedy series around the comic book group the New Warriors.

According to TV Line, the show will focus on the female heroine Doreen Green aka Squirrel Girl! Not much is know about this character, but the same was said about several other Marvel characters that made it to television. Jessica Jones was another little known heroine in the Marvel catalog, now she has one of the best shows on Netflix. Maybe Squirrel Girl and the New Warriors will have the same success as Jones did.

The New Warriors have consisted of several characters, including Scarlet Spider, Nova, Night Thrasher, Speedball, and Justice. The team has been described as a younger form of The Avengers, encountering the same dangers and villains yet going through the notions of growing up.

Squirrel Girl has popped up recently as Anna Kendrick expressed her desire to play the role saying “My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Both Marvel and ABC Studios have yet to comment, but sources have stated that the series is being shopped around to cable and streaming outlets.
