‘Louie’ Returns to TV After 19 Month Hiatus

After being off the air for 19 months, Louie’s fourth season will finally premiere on May 5.

The Emmy award-winning comedy series stars Louis C.K., who serves as the show’s creator, executive producer, director, and editor. After the third season ended, he asked for the show to go on hiatus, saying he needed “a little breathing room.”

“Louis said he needed extra time between seasons three and four of his show because – even though Louie was the most critically acclaimed television comedy series in America – he needed to make it even better,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “Based on the first three episodes we’ve seen, remarkably, he accomplished his goal.”

The fourth season will have a total of 14 episodes and will feature two episodes airing back-to-back for seven consecutive weeks from May 5 to June 16. FX originally requested only 13 episodes, but Louis C.K. added an additional episode as a way to reward his fans for waiting through the long hiatus.
