Lifetime’s ‘Liz and Dick’ Falls Below Expecations

Lifetime’s “Liz and Dick”, the biographical film of the relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, fell short of expectations with 3.5 million viewers during its premiere last night.

While the numbers aren’t terrible, the film does fall short of “Steel Magnolias” 6.5 million viewers, the most watched television movie of 2012. “Liz and Dick” is actually the fourth most-watched Lifetime movie of the year behind “Drew Peterson: Untouchable” (5.8 million viewers) and “Abducted: The Carlina White Story” (4.09 million viewers).

It seems critics are not being favorable of the scandalous Lindsay Lohan portraying one of the best Hollywood actresses of all time.

“Taylor and Burton deserved better,” wrote Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker while Boston Herald’s Mark A. Perigard said, “Calling this a train wreck makes the movie sound more fascinating than it is.”

Overall the film has a meager rating of 26/100 on Metacritic.
