L.A. Reid is calling it quits after two seasons of ‘The X Factor’. The Epic Records CEO decided it was time to return to the music business and not sign on for a third season of ‘The X Factor’.
“He’s going back to the music business full time,” a source told Deadline. “It’s his decision.”
Reid commented on his departure saying, “I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell. He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him. Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent.”
L.A. Reid was the only judge, besides ‘X Factor’ creator Simon Cowell, to return for a second season. After season one of ‘The X Factor’, judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were replaced by Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. Host Steve Jobs was replaced as well for hosting duo Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian.
“Of course, I will miss the show,” said Reid. “In my opinion Simon attracts the best talent but I’m looking forward to getting back to my core business and the responsibility of running Epic Records.”
It has not been announced whether Britney Spears or Demi Lovato will return for a third season.
