The iconic Kate Walsh is returning as “Addison Montgomery” in ABC’s Greys Anatomy for the upcoming 18th season.
Greys Anatomy fans have been waiting for this reappearance for quite some time. There was several returns from character favorites last season. It will be refreshing to watch the renowned surgeon operate once again. According to TVLine, Walsh will appear in several episodes for the new season.
Although Addison Montgomery was universally disliked in the first season (2005), the doctor’s development on the show changed the minds of viewers overtime. Walsh also announced her character’s revival in a video via Twitter. “I’m so excited to be home again,” she said. Watch the announcement video below.
The infamous Addison Montgomery is an elite gynecological and neonatal surgeon. She first appeared as Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) estranged wife in season one. Furthermore, she develops rocky relationships with other doctors. In addition to that, Montgomery affects Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) love life as well. However, she eventually becomes a beloved character and important part to thestory.
Walsh’s character then receives her own spin-off series, Private Practice. The show ran from 2007-2013 with six seasons. Throughout that time, Walsh still appeared in some episodes of Greys. Therefore, this moment will be epic. ABC also confirmed that Kate Burton (Meredith’s mother) will be featured in upcoming episodes.

Season 17 was definitely one to remember. Unquestionably, the internet buzzed about former cast members T.R. Knight, Eric Dane, Patrick Dempsey and Chyler Leigh making brief appearances. The season ended with departures from Jesse Williams and Giacomo Gianniotti. Greys remains as ABC’s number one drama series.
ABC Representatives confirmed her return to the show. The 18th season premieres Sept. 30 on ABC.
