Jessica Biel is set to star in her first small screen role since 7th Heaven.
Biel has been cast in USA Network’s pilot for The Sinner, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Petra Hammesfah. The series will be a one-hour crime drama that focuses on a young mother who commits an alarming act of violence in public after experiencing a sudden fit of rage, but she doesn’t know why she did it. A man decides to investigate the matter to help figure out her motive.
The pilot for the show was penned by Derek Simonds (The Astronauts Wives Club). Antonio Campos will direct, and Biel will also serve as an executive producer along with Michelle Purple from her production company Iron Ocean Films, Simonds, and Campos.
If the show is picked up by the network to be a series, it will be Biel’s first series regular role since 7th Heaven. After leaving 7th Heaven, she focused on film with roles in The Illusionist, Total Recall, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more. Recently, she guest starred on New Girl and provided voice work for BoJack Horseman and Family Guy.
