The animated television series Star Wars Rebels has already premiered on Disney Channel and Disney XD, but the first episode will air on ABC later this month with an appearance by Darth Vader.
This special airing of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, the TV movie which serves as the introduction to the TV series, will have a bonus scene that includes the famous villain and will be voiced by the character’s original actor James Earl Jones.
“We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” Dave Filoni, executive producer of the series, stated. “We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”
The series opener on October 3 drew 6.5 million viewers on Disney Channel and Disney XD. The show, which takes place between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope of the Star Wars saga, begins its regular run on Disney XD on October 13. The voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray, David Oyelowo and Jason Isaacs. The series has already been picked up for a second season.
Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will be shown on ABC on Sunday, October 26 at 6:00pm CST.
