After leaving the American Idol judges table back in May, Randy Jackson is in talks to return for the 13th season of the revamped show, but in a different aspect.
Reportedly, the 57-year-old producer will be replacing Jimmy Iovine as the contestants mentor since he is set to depart the show after three seasons. Iovine joined Idol back in 2010 after Simon Cowell resigned from the show.
Along with the news of Jackson’s return, Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, has been in talks with the show’s producers, and may be joining the returning Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban at the judges table.
Also, after will.i.am and Kayne West turned down possible judging positions, the show is now showing interest in Dr. Luke, a singer/song writer who has produced hits for Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.
A revamped American Idol returns to FOX in January 2014.
