HBO Renews ‘Veep’ and ‘Silicon Valley’

HBO announced on Monday that the network has renewed the sitcoms Veep and Silicon Valley for an additional season.  The announcement follows the network’s recent two season order of Games of Thrones.

Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley debuted earlier this month to critical acclaim.  The series follows six programmers who live together and are looking to make it big in California’s tech hub, Silicon Valley.   While only three episodes have aired to date, the series has achieved a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDb.  The show’s April 6 debut reached an audience of 1.98 million viewers while the series’ second episode on April 13, drew 1.69 million, according to Nielsen.

Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, began it’s third season on April 6.  The series is set in the office of theVice President of the United States and follows the life of Vice President Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus). Veep drew an audience of 955,000 viewers for its season three premiere and 868,000 for the following episode.  Louis-Dreyfus has received numerous awards for her role at Vice President Selina Meyer, including two Emmys, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Award. In addition, the series has been nominated twice for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Silicon Valley airs on HBO on Sundays at 9PM (CST) and is followed by Veep at 9:30PM.
