Halloween TV Programming You Don’t Want To Miss

Today mark’s October 1st, and you know what that means – skeletons, ghouls and goblins for one whole month and a plethora of Halloween TV specials.

Channel Guide Magazine released a grand list of notable spooky programming that you don’t want to miss this fall season, such as SYFY’s 31 Days of Halloween, the Food Network’s Halloween Wars, Fox’s The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” Marathon and so much more.

DESTINATION AMERICA

Ghostober

Every night of the week, starting October 1st through the 31st, on Destination America, the network will air a variety of spooky programming to last all month long, leading up to the two-hour supernatural television event Paranormal Lockdown: The Black Monk House on Halloween night (8pm CST).

The month includes premiere episodes of Ghostly Encounters (Mondays at 9pm CST), Haunted Case Files (Sundays at 9pm CST), Haunted Collector (Tuesdays at 9pm CST; moves to 8pm CST starting October 25th), Ghost Mine (Thursdays at 8pm CST and 9pm CST), Monsters & Mysteries Unsolved (Saturdays at 8pm CST; season finale October 15th), and Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files (Saturdays at 7pm CST and 8pm CST starting October 22nd).

DISNEY CHANNEL

Monstober

Running from October 1st thought October 31st, Disney Channel‘s annual month-long event for kids and families includes Halloween-themed episodes of favorite series, as well as the premiere of the original film The Swap (debuting on October 7th).

SYFY

31 Days of Halloween

Running from October 1st through October 31st on Syfy, the annual month-long celebration of all things spooky includes a number of new original movies/series, as well as network premieres of horror favorites.

The Syfy original movie The Crooked Man kicks off the Halloween month on October 1st. Starring Michael Jai White and Amber Benson, the thriller is about how singing a nursery rhyme summons a demonic figure, who is known as Crooked Man.

FOOD NETWORK

Halloween Wars

Starting Sundays from October 2nd through October 30th at 8pm CST on the Food NetworkHalloween Wars is back with host Jonathan Bennett to find the most creative team. Six teams – made up of a pumpkin carving expert, cake artist and sugar artist – will be battling it out as they create Halloween-themed edible displays that are as scary, yet equally delicious.

Award-winning cake decorator Shinmin Li and horror icon Don Mancini, creator of the horror hit Child’s Play will judge the team’s creations. At the end of each battle, one team will be eliminated, until the last team standing scares off the competition and takes home a $50,000 grand prize.

TCM

Monster of the Month: Frankenstein

Each Sunday (starting on October 2nd) at 7pm CST, enjoy classic films about Frankenstein’s monster, beginning with Boris Karloff’s immortal appearances in Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935).

AMC

FearFest

Beginning October 13th at 8am CST through November 1st at 5am CST, AMC’s annual scary movie marathon encompasses everything from Halloween, Friday the 13th movies to Nightmare on Elm Street and The Walking Dead marathons.

HALLMARK CHANNEL

Pumpkin Pie Wars

Starring October 15th at 8pm on Hallmark Channel, original film Pumpkin Pie Wars is about two warring grandmas have feuded for years at the annual pumpkin pie bake-off at the Chester County Harvest Festival. This year, the torch is being passed to their adult grandkids, who unexpectedly fall in love with each other. They embark on a secret romance and try to mend the rift between their families.

FREEFORM

13 Nights of Halloween

Freeform’s 13 Nights of Halloween kicks off on October 19th at 4:30pm CST through November 1st at 1am CST on Freeform. The annual Halloween event begins with Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and includes a variety of other spooky classics, such as The Addams FamilyDark ShadowsScooby-DooHocus Pocus and the network TV premiere of R.L. Stine’s Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls.

TLC

Friday Night Frights

On October 21st, TLC will kick off Friday Night Frights, a block of ghost-centric programming with a new season of Ghosts of Shepherdstown and a new season of A Haunting (which has moved from Destination America) and a new series Kindred Spirits.

TLC’s new installment of Ghosts of Shepherdstown will air at 7pm CST, with A Haunting following right after at 8pm CST featuring all-new episodes showcasing some of the scariest stories of supernatural activity.

New series Kindred Spirits, starring Ghost Hunters alumni Adam Berry and Amy Bruni, will air at 9pm CST, following Berry and Bruni taking their paranormal expertise back on the road in northern Pennsylvania.

FXX

The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror” Marathon

The Simpsons’ classic “Treehouse of Horror” episodes will air on FXX (Oct. 24 at 5pm CST, Oct. 25 at 5pm CST, Oct 27 at 7pm CST and Oct 28 at 5pm CST)

“Treehouse of Horror” is a series of Halloween specials within the animated series, each consisting of three separate, self-contained segments.
