Golden Globe Award Nominations Announced

The Golden Globes will be presented Sunday, Jan. 15th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA

The nominations for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning. Among the motion picture nominees, “The Artist” leads with 6 nominations, “The Help” and “The Descendants” have 5, “The Ides of March,” “Moneyball,” and “Midnight in Paris” have 4, with “Albert Nobbs,” “Hugo,” and “My Week with Marilyn” earning 3. Also, George Clooney has 3 nominations: one for acting in “The Descendants,” one for directing “The Ides of March,” and one for writing “The Ides of March” with Grant Heslov and Beau Willimon. Ryan Gosling has 2 nominations for his performances in “The Ides of March” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” Kate Winslet has 2 as well for her performances in “Carnage” and the TV miniseries “Mildred Pierce.” Glenn Close also has two nominations for “Albert Nobbs” for acting and Best Original Song.

Winners from last year, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are nominated for the second year in a row for their scoring of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” as well as Steve Buscemi for the repeated nominee for Best Television Series – Drama, “Boardwalk Empire.” Kelly Macdonald has also received her second nomination for “Boardwalk Empire.” Aaron Sorkin will be competing again for Best Screenplay with Steven Zaillian and Stan Chervin. Bryan Cranston earned his second nomination in as many years for “Breaking Bad,” as well as Idris Elba for “Luther.” Madonna earned a nomination for Best Original Song for her film “W.E.” and new shows “American Horror Story” and “New Girl” have nominations for Best Television Series in their specific categories.
