‘Glee’ Planning Hiatus After Cory Monteith Tribute

Following the tragic death of Cory Monteith, Glee co-creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy has revealed the plans for the show’s upcoming fifth season.

Glee will return for its fifth season on Sept. 26, one week later than originally planned.  The first two episodes of the season will feature the music of The Beatles since those two episodes have already been shot and written.  The season’s third episode will pay tribute to Cory Monteith by directly dealing with the death of his character, Finn Hudson.

After Monteith’s tribute episode Glee plans to go on hiatus to give writers time to reassess the direction of the show.  Murphy revealed to E! News that Monteith’s co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele, is helping decide the direction of the upcoming season.

Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on July 13th.  An autopsy revealed that the 31-year-old actor died from a heroine and alcohol overdose.
