‘Girl Meets World’ Gets Premiere Date

Cory and Topanga fans don’t have to wait much longer. Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, the spin-off show of Boy Meets World, will premiere Friday, June 27th at 9:45 p.m ET/PT.

The new comedy series, which stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel all grown up, will premiere after the Disney Channel original movie Zapped. The movie, starring the former Shake It Up star Zendaya, will start at 8 p.m.

After a short hiatus, Girl Meets World will return to its regular time on Friday, July 11th at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Disney has released a new minute-long trailer for Girl Meets World that gives you an inside look of the adventures 7th graders Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) will take as they grow up. The original and remix version of the Girl Meets World theme song “Take on the World,” sung by the two stars, will premiere on Tuesday, May 20th.

Other characters from the original series that will make their appearances in the sequel are William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), William Russ and Betsy Randle (Cory’s parents), Lee Norris (Minkus), and Danny McNulty (Harley Keiner).

Disney Channel will air a four-hour Boy Meets World marathon on June 15th that will be hosted by Savage and Fishel.

Below is the synopsis for the series, which has been approved for 21-episodes:

Set in New York City, the new comedy series will tell the wonderfully funny, heartfelt stories that Boy Meets World is renowned for — only this time from a tween girl’s perspective — as the curious and bright 7th grader Riley and her quick-witted friend Maya (played by Sabrina Carpenter) embark on an unforgettable middle school experience.  But their plans for a carefree year will be adjusted slightly under the watchful eyes of Riley’s dad who’s also a faculty member — and their new History teacher — and Riley’s mom who owns a trendy afterschool hangout that specializes in pudding.
