A funeral service for The Sopranos mob boss James Gandolfini was held at the Cathedral Church of Saints John the Divine in Manhattan’s upper West Side on the morning of Thursday, June 27th.
Many gathered to pay their respects to the former Sopranos star including members of Gandolfini’s family, Sopranos creator David Chase, James’ on screen daughter Jamie-Lynn Sigler and co-stars Steve Buscemi, Lorraine Bracco, Joe Pantoliano, Michael Imperioli and John Ventimiglia. Governor Chris Christie, Alec Baldwin and New York Jets owner Woody Johnson where also among the hundreds that attended the service to pay their respect to the television legend.
Gandolfini’s wife, Deborah Lin, was the first family member to speak at the service, saying, “My husband was an honest kind and loving man. He cared more about others than himself. He took the time to ask others in the course of the day how they were doing. Jim, one of the things I loved the most was watching you be the father that you were to Michael and Lily. Thank you for the memories of the beautiful life we shared together. I love you Jim and I always will. Rest in Peace.”
Gandolfini had suddenly died of a heart attack on June 19th while vacationing with his son in Italy. He was only 51 when he passed.
