Full List of JFK Assassination Projects Being Released For 50th Anniversary

It’s hard to believe almost 50 years have passed since John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, TX.  To commemorate the 50th anniversary, movie studios and television networks are getting ready to release their own JFK projects in the coming weeks.

Below is a full list of projects that are being released to remember the 35th President of the United States:

  • “Parkland” released on Oct. 4, produced by Tom Hanks, stars Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden and Paul Giamatti as Abraham Zapruder, whose famous home movie captured the fatal shots.  The film is based on Vincent Bugliosi’s 2008 book, “Four Days in November: The Assassination of President John F Kennedy.
  • “Killing Kennedy,” debuts Nov. 10 on the National Geographic Channel, is a biopic starring Rob Lowe as President Kennedy and Ginnifer Goodwin as Jackie Kennedy.
  • “Legacy of Secrecy,” currently in production and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert DeNiro is expected to be in theaters next year.
  • “The Bystander Theory” released on Sept. 17 and is available on Netflix and stars Brad Leland, best known for playing Buddy Garritty on the TV series “Friday Night Lights”.
  • “JFK” originally released in 1991 and directed by Oliver Stone is briefly returning to theaters on November 6th and stars Kevin Costner and Jim Garrison.
  • “The Sixties,” co-produced by Tom Hanks, is a 10-part CNN documentary series that premieres in November along with a 90-minute special episode titled, “The Assassination of JFK (1963).”
  • “JFK: The Smoking Gun” is a two hour docudrama on Reelz that is focused on the police work of detective, Colin McLaren, who spent four years investigating Kennedy’s assassination as a cold case.
