Fox Remaking Tom Hanks Movie ‘Big’ as TV Series

The 1988 comedy film Big starring Tom Hanks is being remade for the small screen. Fox has ordered an event series that is loosely based on the film from Enlisted producers Kevin Biegel and Mike Royce.

It will be a half hour comedy series that looks at what it means to be an adult, what it means to be a kid, and how those two things are confused more than ever in today’s world. Biegel and Royce will also write the script for the series.

In the original film, written by Gary Ross and directed by Penny Marshall, Tom Hanks played a kid who wants to be “big” and suddenly becomes an adult after making his wish on a fortune teller machine. Big went on to gross $151 million worldwide.

Big is not the only film that Fox is remaking for television. It was previously announced that the network is also adapting Minority Report.
