“Everybody Loves Raymond” Star, Doris Roberts, Dead at 90

Actress Doris Roberts has passed away at the age of 90. According to TMZ, Roberts passed away Sunday in L.A.

The witty actress is best known for her role in Everybody Loves Raymond.  On the show she portrayed Ray Romano’s mother, Marie Barone. Marie was best known for her over nurturing demeanor, for being controlling, and being intrusive. The role has snagged Roberts four Emmy awards including several nominations. The star also has been given critical acclaim for her roles in St. Elsewhere, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, and Grandmas Boy.

Doris wasn’t only an actress, but a cook and an activist. She wrote Are You Hungry, Dear? and Life, Laughs and Lasagna which held several of her own recipes. As an activist she served as chairwoman for the Children with AIDS Foundation, she’s also worked with Puppies Behind Bars which gave inmates the chance to train guide and assistance dogs for the disabled and elderly.

Doris Roberts is survived by his only son, Michael Cannata Jr., and her three grand children: Kelsey, Andrew, and Devon.
