‘Ellen’ Becomes First U.S. Daily Talk Show in China

The multiple Emmy Award-winning daytime talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, has now become the first U.S. daily talk show to be carried in China.

Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution and Sohu.com Inc. announced that “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will be available to stream in China on Sohu, an online video service provider, available 24-7 to viewers in China.

Sohu is China’s premier online video provider site that offers viewers a variety of hot TV dramas, animation and now U.S. talk shows. Sohu viewers will be able to watch the eleventh season of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with Chinese subtitles. Each episode will be delivered within 48 hours from the U.S. original broadcast until the license period ends.

The eleventh season of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has achieved the strongest ratings ever in its show’s history, and is the #1 rated daytime talk show in the U.S. with women between the ages of 25-54. CEO and Chairman of Sohu, Dr. Charles Zhang, believes the strong ratings and positive message the show has in the U.S. will have a strong appeal and relevance with the Chinese audience of all ages.

“Ellen has clearly differentiated herself and her talk show from so many of the controversial conflict-oriented talk shows as it has become an increasingly positive alternative in daytime featuring the biggest stars from worlds of film, television and music,” said Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President of Warner Bros.

“She has an unmatched and unique brand of family-friendly humor and love of pop culture that appeal to audiences of all ages in a very fun one-hour of programming. We are thrilled that ‘Ellen’ will now be seen in China and is the first U.S. talk show available there” Schlesinger added.
