After serving as a judge for the past two seasons on The X Factor, singer Demi Lovato will not be returning for the fourth season.
“I always knew she wasn’t coming back because she’s touring, so I knew that”, said fellow judge Simon Cowell as he confirmed the news of Demi’s departure from the show on Wednesday night.
Lovato addressed her resignation by stating, “ I started the show being a singer and musician, and so I’m going to go back to that. It’s been really great, but I’m so excited for 2014. I’m going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music-touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one.”
At this moment it’s not known how Lovato’s departure will affect The X Factor. While Cowell had expressed that he expects the show to return for a fourth season, he mentioned he has been considering making some major changes to the format of the show.
The season finale of The X Factor will air tonight at 7 p.m CST.
