A New Hero Emerges
Season one of Batwoman ended in mystery. After it was announced that Ruby Rose would step down from the role, many questioned what was next for the CW show. Would the CW network cancel? Would the program be dissolved into another? How would the story continue? These countless queries began to stack upon the cast and crew and weighed heavily on their minds. Their answer, Javicia Leslie, a former member of the US Army.
Javicia Leslie has been cast as the new star of Batwoman. She steps into the role with a new character and new story built for her. Javicia spoke about how much it meant to her. “I love that I get to use my Muy Thai and kick boxing skills within the show. There is no hiding myself for this role. I am a black, openly lesbian individual and Batwoman will be also. The honor for my community is there and I will carry that with me throughout my life.” Executive producer Caroline Dries echoed her sentiments.
Moving toward season 2, Batwoman hopes to continue the mysterious foundation laid within the first. There will be two major themes that run through the second season. Where is Kate Kane, the previous Batwoman and who is Ryan Wilder?
Batwoman season 2 is expected to release on the CW in 2021.
