Comedy Central to Cut Paul Walker Jokes from Justin Bieber Roast

Jokes that referenced the late Paul Walker at the taping of Justin Bieber’s Comedy Central roast will be cut when it airs on television, the cable network announced.

The roast was taped in Los Angeles on Saturday, and two comics made jokes about Walker’s deadly car accident. Jeff Ross attempted to diss Ludacris’ song “Move B—-” by saying “’Move, b—-, get out of the way!’ is what Paul Walker should’ve told that tree… Too soon? Too fast? Too furious?” The joke was received by groaning and booing from the audience.

Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live said, “Just this past year, Justin got arrested for drag racing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t with Paul Walker. What? He’s doing great! He’s got a movie coming out!”​

“Roasts often push the limits of good taste and we give the participants full rein to try things knowing we have the edit to shape the show,” a spokesperson for Comedy Central said. “Sometimes the line is discovered by crossing it. The Paul Walker references will not be in the telecast.”

Bieber told reporters after the show that he did not like the jokes made about Walker. The singer also may not have enjoyed the roast altogether.

“It went a little rough. I’m not gonna lie,” Kevin Hart told Jimmy Kimmel when he discussed the taping. “There was some moments where [I thought] ‘Justin’s gonna cry in the car’. You know how you can look at a person and they’re trying to have good time, but you can tell there’s a tear?”

“I kept pointing back at him, like, ‘You better hold it back, boy! Don’t you — you don’t let the cameras see it come down,” he added. “He did one knee slap where I think he covered up a cry.”
