Disney-ABC announced today that the successful game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will have new host.
The Original Kings Of Comedy legend Cedric the Entertainer will be the new host of the game show, replacing long time host Meredith Vieira who has hosted the show since its syndication in 2002.
“With his deep roots as a successful stand-up comedian and actor, Cedric will bring his fresh approach and unpredictable fun to the show,” Janice Marinelli, President of Disney-ABC Domestic TV said.
Meredith will be leaving the show after 11 years in order to pursue new opportunities. The last few seasons of the show ratings dropped to an average of 3.2 million viewers. ABC is hoping that by having Cedric as host, he will inject new life into the show and bring ratings up.
Cedric will begin filming Millionaire in September for the game show’s 12th season in national syndication.
