CBS Officially Orders ‘Supergirl’

CBS officially picked up the new comic book show Supergirl for their upcoming 2015-16 TV season.

The network is jumping into the comic book phenomenon with a full series order of Supergirl starring Glee‘s Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El. The show will follow 24-year old Kryptonian-born Kara Zor-El who decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and powers that she has been hiding since she arrived on earth.

Supergirl also stars Calista Flockhart, Chyler Leigh, Mehcad Brooks, Helen Slater (the original Supergirl),and Dean Cain (former Superman). The new DC Comics-based show will be produced by Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash), Ali Adler (Chuck) and Sarah Schechter (The Flash).

A premiere date for the show has not been set, but CBS will unveil its full 2015-2016 schedule later next week.
