Bryan Cranston To Star In HBO Films’ ‘All The Way’ Adaptation

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will be returning to television with HBO Films!

The network announced on Wednesday that they have acquired the rights to All the Way, the Tony Award-winning Broadway play that stars Cranston as President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Cranston will reprise his Broadway debut role as the 36th President of the United States in the upcoming HBO adaptation. In addition to the Tony Award, the Emmy-winner was honored with Drama Desk, Theatre World and Outer Critics Circle awards for his performance in All the Way.

Playwright Robert Schenkkan will adapt his play for HBO, which tells the story of LBJ’s first year in office following President Kennedy’s assassination, and his efforts to launch the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

All the Way, directed by Bill Rauch, opened in March and closed in June after 131 performances at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York. The show broke Broadway box office records, taking in over $1.4 million in just a week, after eight performances.
