Bob Harper, who has served as a trainer on NBC’s The Biggest Loser since season one, will be taking on a new role for the weight loss show’s 17th season.
Harper will host the show, taking over for Alison Sweeney who announced she would be leaving the show in August. Sweeney had been hosting the show since season four in 2007. Caroline Rhea hosted the first three seasons.
“I’m super excited about taking the position of host on The Biggest Loser,” Harper said in a statement. “I’ve been with the show since Season 1, so I know all of the ins and outs. Let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ballgame with me at the steering wheel.”
Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom will be returning to the show to train the eight teams of two contestants this season. Harper will continue to help mentor the contestants.
The Biggest Loser begins filming this month and is expected to air mid-season on NBC.
