Bill Hader To Host SNL In October
Bill Hader is returning to his roots, but this time he plans to host NBC’s Saturday Night Live!
NBC announced today that the comedian would be hosting the show for the very first time on October 11th with musical guest Hozier, who is behind the single “Take Me to Church”. Hader has earned two Emmy nominations during his eight years on the late-night show, before he left in 2013.
However, following his final bow, Hader has returned to the stage as one of his most notable characters, Stefon, when Melissa McCarthy hosted in 2014.
He is currently promoting his new feature film The Skeleton Twins, which he stars in with another SNL alum, Kristen Wiig. They play estranged twins who are forced to spend time together again after an unexpected tragedy.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, Hader reiterated how the film is not a comedy, but much heavier. “It’s a very sweet movie, but it’s not anything like an SNL movie or the comedies we’ve been in,” he explains.
SNL announced that for their 40th season premiere on September 27th, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt would host with musical guest Ariana Grande. Sarah Silverman will make her first appearance as host on the following week’s episode on October 4th with musical guest Maroon 5.
