Big Brother Contestant Unable to Play After Positive Covid Test

Christie Valdiserri, one of the contestants playing in this summer’s hot reality show Big Brother, will lose her chance of winning half a million dollars after a positive Covid-19 test pulls her from the game.

Houseguests must undergo Covid-19 testing prior to filming since a number of contestants will coexist in an isolated house. Their purpose is to avoid eviction by their fellow houseguests in a game that lasts the entire summer for a cash money prize.

With the game running last summer at the peak of the pandemic, stricter health precautions for the safety of all players have been meticulously put in place. Valdiserri, a professional dancer with alopecia ready to compete has explained her reasoning for being unable to participate via Instagram post,

“So I don’t want to be sharing this news but I tested positive for Covid. I have no idea how I got it. I have the vaccine, and I’ve been following all the guidelines up to this point… I have absolutely no symptoms” she said. “So I’m really grateful for that, but it’s really frustrating because I won’t be playing in ‘Big Brother’ this summer,” she continues.

She goes on to explain that when faced with adversity, there is a bigger reason while reviewing comments. “I just have to say I have put myself out there and shared this vulnerability of being bald… So spread love and whether you’re just finding out about alopecia or you know what alopecia is, you know that we’re unstoppable and I’m gonna bounce back in one way or another”.

Claire Rehfuss, a 25-year-old artificial intelligence engineer will be taking Valdiserri’s place on the show that premieres Wednesday, July 7 on CBS.
