Amazon has become the sole streamer of the hit television series 24, the network announced on Tuesday. The move comes as Fox plans to reboot the series with 24: Live Another Day on May 5th.
Prior to today’s announcement, fans of the espionage series were not able to watch any of the show’s 192 episodes. Now fans will be able to catch up on all of their favorite Jack Bauer episodes, along with the show’s movie “Redemption,” on Amazon Prime.
While Netflix has a larger audience, Amazon Prime has been targeting larger shows in order to cut their top competitor out of the loop. In the past few months Amazon Prime has acquired exclusive streaming rights to popular shows such as “Downton Abbey” and “Veronica Mars.” Meanwhile, Netflix is besting the competition with its highly-acclaimed, original programming like “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black,” a format Amazon Prime has struggled with in recently.
