NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcaster Al Michaels was arrested for DUI this past Friday in Santa Monica, California.
Around 9:30pm Friday night, two officers on motorcycles at a local gas station in the 700 block of Pico Boulevard saw Michaels make an illegal U-turn on Pico. Sgt. Richard Lewis said the police officers radioed in and set up a DUI checkpoint for Michaels nearby in the 1800 block of Lincoln Boulevard.
Officers say that when Michaels was pulled over he was quote “already slurring his words” and that they “could smell the alcohol” on him.
“They pulled him over, detected the smell of alcoholic beverage, slurred speech, they did [field sobriety tests], arrested him, and then he was booked,” Sgt. Lewis added.
Al Michaels was released early Saturday morning and is scheduled to appear in court June 26.
