ABC Filming Pilot for ‘Muppets’ Return

The Muppets may be heading back to the small screen.

ABC has ordered a presentation of a pilot for a series with the Muppets, tentatively titled Muppets 2015. Bill Prady, co-creator of The Big Bang Theory, is penning the script and executive producing with Bob Kushell, who will additionally serve as the showrunner.

The pilot will reportedly be filmed sometime this month and feature familiar Muppets, such as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. Not much is know about the series, except this logline: “The Muppets excitedly gather at ABC for a meeting about the new Muppet Show. However, the show will not move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on.”

Prady already has much experience writing about the Muppets. He has written for The Jim Henson Hour, Muppet Classic Theater, and multiple Muppets specials.

The original Muppets Show aired from 1976 to 1981 with over 100 episodes and Muppets Tonight aired for ten episodes in 1996 on ABC before being cancelled. Eight films starring the Muppets have also been made, with the most recent being 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted.
