50 Cent is excited to be a part of Sundance’s new series “Dream School”, a reality show that actually focuses on uplifting people. “Dream School” is a six-part series that follows a group of high school dropouts who are now trying to graduate.
50 Cent is proud of the new series, saying in an interview last week, “the actual reality programs that exist right now … kind of focus on the train wreck, and this show is more about providing opportunity.”
The 15 Los Angeles area teenagers who appear in the series originally dropped out of high school due to problems such as fighting, pregnancy, bullying, and family and financial issues.
50 Cent is one of the executive producers and appears in the series along with filmmaker Oliver Stone and actor David Arquette. Other celebrities make appearances also, such as Jesse Jackson, astronaut Dr. Mae Jemison, journalist Soledad O’Brien, and rapper Swizz Beatz.
50 Cent, who grew up in Queens, NY, said in an interview, “I see a lot of myself in some of the kids, my son is 17 and he could very well be in that situation if things didn’t have a change for the better with me. I remember … the obstacles of temptation in front of me.”
“Dream School” airs on the Sundance Channel on Mondays at 9pm (CST).
