Approximately 150 million people are sending “snaps” each day through the app Snapchat, surpassing the amount of daily active users on Twitter, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The four-year-old app has been growing greatly in number of users. Since December, Snapchat has reportedly gained 40 million daily active users, marking a growth of 35%. Snapchat has been able to attract young users with its various filters to apply to pictures, including making it look like you are vomiting rainbows, have the face of a dog, or have the face of one of your friends.
Twitter, which recently turned ten years old, has an estimated 136 million daily active users, but is struggling to attract new users. In its last financial report for the first quarter, Twitter revealed its total amount of users had only increased by 3% worldwide. It is unknown how many monthly users Snapchat has.
Both Twitter and Snapchat have a long way to go to beat Facebook though, which has 1.09 billion daily active users.
