Apple Has Sold Over 1 Billion iPhones

Apple announced on Wednesday (July 27th) that the company has crossed a huge milestone, selling over one billion iPhones since debuting the device back in 2007.

“iPhone has become one of the most important, world-changing and successful products in history,” stated CEO Tim Cook at the employee meeting at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters. “It’s become more than a constant companion. iPhone is truly an essential part of our daily life and enables much of what we do throughout the day.”

Cook added, “Last week we passed another major milestone when we sold the billionth iPhone. We never set out to make the most, but we’ve always set out to make the best products that make a difference. Thank you to everyone at Apple for helping change the world every day.”

In January 2015, Apple first passed the one billion iOS devices sold milestone. A year later, the company announced that it had 1 billion total active devices –which included iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, Apple TV and Apple Watch.

Apple is expected to introduce two new iPhones in the fall, likely to be called the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Watch the clip below of the compilation of ads for every iPhone 1st generation device from 2007-2008.
