UFC 194: Aldo vs McGregor is Biggest Super Fight to Date
Ok MMA fans, the Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm debate is done! The world watched as Holm came out of Australia as the UFC Bantamweight Champion. Now, its time for the biggest UFC fight to date. Where two of the biggest strikers in the sport will jump into the octagon with the mentality that they will win.
Jose Aldo is one of the best fighters in mixed martial arts (perhaps a legend), and has been for the past decade. Conor McGregor is a show of his own, a person who will talk the talk, walk the walk, and isn’t afraid of anyone. This battle will not end in a upset, but it will end with one fighter being crowned the greatest of all time or a dethronement of who is the better fighter in UFC.
McGregor is a polished fighter, who take his time and hits like a “mug.” If he hits with his patent kick technique and gets you with his hands its going to be impossible to counter. The only thing his opponents can do is hope to block shots and let the round tick down for the next one. He is not as quick as Aldo, but his endurance and power makes up for it. He is a fighter that can take a punch and also last all five rounds with the same energy he had in the first.
While Conor runs his mouth like he’s unstoppable, his weakness really showed in his last match in UFC 189 against Chad Mendes. McGregor’s punches and kicks shook Mendes, but Mendes was able to use his strength to take him to the ground. Conor took several hits but was still able to hold on to win the UFC Interim Featherweight Championship. Mendes does not have the same speed that Jose possesses, but I’m sure one of Aldo’s keys to winning this bout is to take McGregor to the ground.
Jose Aldo is the same as McGregor, a clean and calculating hitter, but the one thing that separates himself from his opponent is the speed of his hits. Aldo waits for an opening and uses his speed to start a combo. Aldo also has one of the best kicking techniques in UFC and uses it to keep his opponents off balance. If he can land his kick into McGregor’s inner thigh this will keep Aldo in the fight and keep Conor off his Southpaw stance.
Aldo has been through several obstacles in his UFC career, but if McGregor capitalizes with kicks to the body, this could be Conor’s match to win. Aldo has the speed to avoid a hit, but one mistake and McGregor will take advantage and capitalize.
Both fighters have never competed against anyone with near similar styles. When it comes to technique, confidence, and pure will, Aldo and McGregor are equals. While some fans, fighters and MMA analysts have Aldo winning on experience, McGregor has proven himself to be someone you don’t want to mess with.
PREDICTION: McGregor backs up the trash talking. McGregor in the second round by TKO.
