One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson made his pro soccer debut with the Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night in a friendly against Rotherham United.
Tomlinson is not trading in the microphone for a soccer jersey for good, but he’s been training in his hometown over the past month for his debut with the Doncaster Rovers. The 22-year-old agreed to a non-contract deal with the Sky Bet Championship.
The game took place at Keepmoat Stadium and the usual turnout for a match like is around 100, but since One Direction’s Tomlinson was playing over 5,000 tickets were sold.
“Just pulling on the shirt is just a boyhood dream,” Tomlinson told the club’s official website before the game. “It’s absolutely amazing, those boys get to do that every week and it really is such an honor to be involved in a club, where I spent most of my childhood going down to the games.”
The Rovers gave Tomlinson jersey No. 28 for the Final Third Development League fixture against Rotherham United. He ended up playing 25 minutes in the game.
Wow what an incredible experience . Can’t put into words how I feel 🙂 I will never forget pulling on my own Doncaster Rovers shirt !!
