One Direction Member Buys English Soccer Club
One Direction member Louis Tomlinson is the new co-owner of English soccer club Doncaster Rovers.
“I really really want the club to succeed,” said Tomlinson to Sky Sports. “From growing up watching them at Belle Vue and then at Keepmoat Stadium, I’ve kind of grown up with it and I’ve felt the passion and to have the opportunity to potentially make a difference in the club is huge for me.”
Tomlinson along with former Rovers chairman John Ryan stated they plan to help “support the club’s ambitions on the football fiend, to develop its schools youth and charity programs and to grow the club as a brand,”
Tomlinson had attempted to take over the team twice but was delayed due to negotiation over image rights for the singer. The issue has since been resolved.
The Doncaster Rovers play in League One, the soccer league two levels below the English Premier League.
