NFL Discontinues Use of Pink Penalty Flags

The National Football League is discontinuing their use of pink penalty flags because of the potential for confusion among players and officials.

NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus wrote, “NFL spokesman Michael Signora confirmed to NFL Media that the flags — used to promote the NFL’s breast cancer awareness initiative — will no longer be used after Week 5.”

Don’t worry fans, players will continue to wear pink on the rest of their gear for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Hanuz added, “Other pink equipment will remain part of the NFL landscape through Week 7. That includes: cleats, wristbands, gloves, sideline hats, helmet decals, captains’ patches, chin cups, shoe laces, skull caps, sideline towels, eye shield decals and quarterback towels.”

Do you agree with the NFL policy to discontinue use of pink penalty flags?  Were they confusing to you?
