With Draymond Green suspended for Game Five, people asked “Would this mean a win for the Cavs? “. While the Warriors have proved the can win games without one of their main pieces (ex. Stephen Curry), they couldn’t stop Kyrie Irving and LeBron James.
The dynamic duo have found a groove in the last two games! This time James and Irving scored 41 points each. The startling statistic is that they both scored or assisted on 97 points in the game, matching the point total for the Warriors. This was a tough loss for the team. If they manage to give up three straight games and the Cavs are claimed champions, making NBA history will mean nothing to Golden State.
As the last game, the Warriors kept it close for the first half. Yet the team couldn’t stop LeBron and Kyrie’s offensive onslaught. Klay Thompson continues to stay hot as he went off for 37 points! The only other players to reach double digits goes to Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala who scored 25 and 15. Golden States bench was already thin when Green was suspended for the game, but it didn’t get easier. Center Andrew Bogut left the game with a knee injury, only playing eight minutes. It’s going to be interesting to see who Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, will choose in the starting lineup.
Now the Warriors will head back to Cleveland! LeBron James will look to gain another win at home, while Golden State will look to close the series. Game Six of the NBA Finals is Thursday, June 16 on ABC at 8 PM CST.
