Michael Schumacher Out Of Coma And Transferred To Rehab
Michael Schumacher, the seven-time Formula One world champion, has awoken from his medically induced coma after hitting his head on a rock back in December.
The 45-year-old has been transferred from a hospital in Grenoble, France after almost six months in intensive care. He will continue his recovery at the University hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, closer to his family’s home.
Schumacher sustained a serious head trauma during a skiing accident at the Franch Alps resort of Meribel. He still has a “long phase of rehabilitation,” said his manager Sabine Kehm in a press release on Monday.
Schumacher’s representative requested that the media respect the privacy of the F1 legend’s family.
“His family would like to thank all his doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months. The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye.”
