Forward Josh Smith has left the Houston Rockets to join the Los Angeles Clippers.
Smith joined the Rockets last season after the Detroit Pistons decided to waive him.
During his season with the Rockets, J Smoove averaged 12 point, 6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He revitalized his career in Houston after an abysmal season in Detroit. His most memorable moment with the team was his performance in the second round of the playoffs against the Clippers. That game gave the rebirth of “Clutch City” and sent the series to a Game 7 which sent the Rockets to the Western Conference Finals.
While a talented player, his shot selection was always questioned. Usually chunking up three point shots and missing assignments on defense. One thing Josh Smith didn’t lack though was confidence. He is giving the Clippers a defensive talent who can dunk on opposing players and make plays on the offensive side.
Both parties came to an agreement to sign for the NBA Minimum. With the addition of Smith, the Clippers are starting to look like team who is ready to move past the 2014-2015 season.
After the announcement, Josh Smith stated, “Over my pro career I have spent a lot of time in Houston with friends and family. Over the past year, while with the Rockets, the team, fans and people of Houston have made it a second home…I want to express my appreciation to everyone for the support and kindness they have showed me and my family while I have been here. Thank you!”
