Johnny Manziel Benched After Party Video Surfaces
After coach Mike Pettine named Johnny Manziel the Cleveland Browns starting QB for the rest of the season, it looked like the sky’s the limit for Johnny. During Manziels’ last six games he has averaged 155 yards per game with five touchdowns and a 88.4 QB rating. The numbers don’t scream best QB in football, but it’s a huge improvement over his rookie season. He has shown flashes of the player he can be in those six games.
The stage was set for Manziel to prove that he is worthy of the starting job, until this video surfaced:
TMZ Sports obtained footage of the Browns QB partying in Austin, TX on November 20th. This was the second night of a back to back bender as Manziel was off due to his teams bye week. Johnny promised the organization that he would control his behavior and would not embarrass himself or the team.
Coach Pettine spoke out about the footage saying, “Disappointing — very..I can’t stand here and say it’s not — whatever word we want to use — disappointing, frustrating.”
Johnny has been in a lot of heat during his NFL career as his constant partying and attitude has hurt his chances of being a starting QB in the league. He was recently in altercation with his girlfriend after a night of partying. While the altercation was taken out of hand according to Manziel and his girlfriend, this video was enough for the Cleveland Browns to sit him out for Sundays game. This cant be good for Manziel as the team decides what their future plans are for the promising yet troubled QB.
The Browns will now go with veteran Josh McCown, who has been out with a rib injury. McCown stated that he will be “…ready to go” Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
