Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his right pectoral muscle.
Just left Texans dressing room and I’m told Mallett is out for rest of season.

The injury occurred during Mallett’s debut for Houston last week when he lead the Texans to a 23-7 win against the Cleveland Browns. The former Patriots backup QB completed 20 of 30 passes and threw for two touchdowns with one interception. His quarterback rating for the game was the 10th best for any starting QB since 2001. Due to his injury the team monitored his progress throughout the week as the Texans prepared for the Cincinnati Bengals at home on Sunday. Mallett was place on the injury report but still fully participated in practice. When it finally came time for his Houston debut, he was obviously not in top form. Mallett would end up completing only 21-45 and was visibly hindered from his injury.

“I didn’t play well today,” Mallett admitted after the loss. “I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn from five yards away.”
Now it looks like the Texans are back to having Ryan Fitzpatrick back under center. The 10-year veteran lost the starting role to Mallet as the team headed into the bye week with a 4-5 record.
Ryan Fitzpatrick on if he’s back starting because of injury to Ryan Mallett: “It’s like riding a bike.”
