Gold Medalist Declines White House Invitation to Race Cars

Gold Medalist Tyler Clary has declined an invitation by President Obama to visit The White House in order to race cars instead.

Tyler Clary, who won a gold medal after beating Ryan Lochte’s backstroke record at this year’s 2012 London Olympics, was invited to attend a special VIP get-together with President Obama at The White House on September 14th. Clary wasn’t the only one invited to attend this event, President Obama and First Lady Michelle also invited all of the 2012 Olympic Athletes as well.

Clary, besides being an Olympic Gold Swimmer, has dreams of being a pro race car driver once his swimming career is finished. Instead of being at The White House on Friday, Clary is opting to be in Fontana,CA to test drive cars for a few race teams.  He will also attend the MAVTV 500 IndyCar event on Saturday September 15th.

Since Clary has returned from the Olympic Games in London, he has already been courted by several sponsors as well as several NASCAR and IndyCar teams. Sources say Tyler Clary is serious about a future in racing cars.

He is fast in the water, but will he be fast on the racetrack?
