Former New England Patriots Tight End Aaron Hernandez has been found guilty of the 1st degree murder of Odin Lloyd, which carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Hernandez was on trial for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, whose body was found in a Massachusetts industrial park in June 2013. The jury deliberated for a full seven days before reaching the guilty verdict.
Once the verdict was read Hernandez seemed more disappointed and, strangely enough, annoyed with the verdict and the judges words, which caused his fiance and mother to break into tears. At only 25 years of age Hernandez will now spend the rest of his life in prison.
Odin Lloyd’s family was present for the reading of the verdict and were moved to tears at the conclusion of what has been a two year ordeal.
In total Hernandez was found guilty of five charges: first degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without a license.
Aaron Hernandez can appeal the verdict but any success is doubtful as the verdict from the jury was unanimous.
