Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson was released from jail today after a stunt he pulled in court last Monday that landed him in the slammer. Johnson spent one week in jail after jokingly spanking his attorney on the rear in court.
Johnson once again faced Judge Kathleen McHugh, the judge who threw him in jail last week for disrespecting her courtroom.
“I just wanted to apologize for disrespecting the court last time,” Chad Johnson told Judge McHugh in court. “I apologize. I did have time to reflect on the mistakes I made in this courtroom.”
Judge McHugh finally accepted his apology and shortened the sentence from the original 30-day sentence to seven days. She also extended Johnson’s probation an extra three months through October 16th, ordered him to perform 25 hours of community service and is requiring the former NFL star to attend domestic violence counseling sessions twice a week during his probation.
