New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne has been slapped with a $15 million lawsuit over his 2010 song “Bedrock”.
According to Reuters, Done Deal Enterprises, a production company based out of Waynesboro, GA., has begun litigation against Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal Music Group. Filed in the Southern District Court of New York on July 29, the lawsuit accuses Lil Wayne and defendants of copyright infringement for his 2010 hit song “Bedrock”.
This is not the first time Lil Wayne has been sued for copyright infringement. In 2008 Weezy was sued by The Rolling Stones for alleged illegal sampling of their 1965 song “Play with Fire”.
Besides Lil Wayne “Bedrock” features fellow Cash Money artists Drake, Gudda Gudda, Tyga, Jae Millz and Nicki Minaj, as well as an appearance by Interscope Record r&b singer Lloyd.
Released on March 15, 2010 “Bedrock” would be certified 3x Platinum (over 3,000,000 records sold) and climbed as high as number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Court precedings will begin on October 12th.
